When school isn't working the way it should.
Maybe your child needs an accommodation the school hasn't put in place. Or a college or university has raised misconduct, and you think a disability, religion or another human rights issue is part of the story. We'll talk it through with you.
We explain the fees before any work begins.
By video or phone, in English or Arabic.
What we can help with
Education matters connected to human rights in Ontario.
- Accommodation at schoolFor a disability, religious observance or another need protected by Ontario's Human Rights Code.
- Academic misconductAt a college or university, where a human rights issue is part of what happened.
- Discrimination or harassmentBy staff or in how a school applies its policies.
We don't handle IEPs, special education placements or suspensions. If that's your situation, we'll tell you in the first call and point you in the right direction.
How a consultation works
Most people don't deal with lawyers every day, so here is exactly what happens, from the moment you book to the moment you decide.
- 1Today
You book
Choose a time online, or email us. You don't need any documents yet, and nothing you send at this stage is a commitment.
- 2Within one business day
We run a conflict check
A lawyer can't act for both sides of the same dispute. So before we hear the details, we confirm we haven't acted for the other party, such as your employer or the school. It's a short check, and we email you as soon as it's done.
- 3At the time you chose
Your consultation
By video or phone, in English or Arabic. You tell us what happened. We listen, then explain your options in plain language. Ask anything.
- 4Whenever you're ready
You decide
If you'd like more help, we explain the cost before any work starts, in writing. If not, there's no obligation and no charge.
Please don't send documents or confidential details until we've confirmed we can act for you. Once we have, we'll tell you exactly what to send.
Book a consultationQuestions parents ask
Can my child join the call?
Yes, if you'd like. Many families prefer the parent speaks first, and that's fine too.
What should we have ready?
Any letters or emails from the school, and a rough timeline. Please don't send confidential documents until we've confirmed we can act for you.
Can we speak in Arabic?
Yes. You can speak with us in English or Arabic.
